Gargleblaster #164; Henry Perkins

Henry Perkins closed his laptop; squared his notepad to his desk, setting his pencils on top.
Doused the lights, locked the door, walked down the block to the stop.
Number 32 goes near his home.
Home, where he can dream.  ‘Bout things.

I can’t believe it. “Top Row 7” and “Editor’s Pick”

Thanks Yeah Write and congratulations to all participants.  We are all winners

    1. Thanks for the encouragement. I worked on this one for a while. I drafted Henry’s story, discarded it, drafted a couple other takes, discarded them and came back to Mr. Perkins. After a few rewrites and a lot of slashing this emerged. I love the process!

Something about this…I love how everything is tidied up before he walks away, like sweeping out the junk in the mind to make room for the good stuff.

For a moment I thought this might be about a real Henry Perkins (of which there are a couple of famous’ish ones). Guessing it isn’t? Either way I like the idea behind the story i.e. working to live, not the other way round.

  3. I love dreaming ’bout things. And, by wording it that way, you have made it accessible to every reader….we can all imagine him dreaming ’bout the kind of things we would dream about 🙂

    1. There are some decisions I don’t like to make for the readers. Then again there are some that I do. Thanks for reading and commenting.

Thanks Jetgirl Hey, I saw your Big Red post the other day and then I checked a book out of the library called “Big Red Tequila” by Rick Riordan. He claims that teenage drinkers in Texas mix Big Red and Tequila as their cocktail of choice. Every hear of this? I sure haven’t.

I never heard of that when I was a teenager in TX, but of course that was a looooooong time ago. Sounds gross, waste of perfectly good Big Red. 🙂
