La Playa

At the table, I gaze into her soul.

She watches waves.

Awkwardly, we pick at our lunch, a shared Panini, warm cheese oozing.

Her eyes change. She’s decided,

“Let’s go back,” she suggests, “I want more than just sustenance.”

  1. Bronze is bronze is bronze. That’s what you get at the beach. But not when you put on Coppertone. Or, Sea & Ski. Or, Hawaiian Tropic Coconut Oil. Or, zinc oxide on your nose. Or that stuff that made you turn orange (what was that, anyway?)
