“I actually believed that adults, for the most part, knew what they were doing.” And wasn’t it a shock when you realized they were just OLDER than us, not necessarily smarter or more aware. OR that they knew the important answers or even the unimportant ones.

My grandfather hated the name. It was his middle name.

I can imagine you have to have a strong sense of self to go round with a name like McCool, but then you do. Really enjoyed this revealing post. Are we talking electric routers? How many is not enough?

At last count I had nine routers. Each has a unique purpose though. Some are fixed to tables, one is fixed to a tapering/turning jig. I have a plunge router, a laminate trimmer, and so on, and so on. I’m sure you get the idea.

I do. I have one router and it tends to have a mind of its own. I saw a programme once where a guy routed beautiful wildlife scenes – amazing to see what can be done. I’ll see if I can find online and send you a link. What other multiples of tools can you not do without? 🙂

Oh, let me think. OK I have 2 table saws, 2 compound mitre saws, countless hand tools, i.e. hammers, screwdrivers, etc. I have but a single shave horse, probably a dozen or so draw knives, scorps, and the like. I also have two kilns. That’s pretty good.

Okay, so what I understand from this list is that you do a lot of work with wood, and do some bowl hollowing with those scorps. I had to look up a those, and the shave horse. And the kilns are for?

Interesting! We used to have a kiln for enamelling. And then there’s throwing and firing pots. A kiln can be for many things, and I’m nosey 🙂

My wife is a potter, my mother was a potter. I haven’t got the patience for enameling. I thinking about learning to slump glass but I haven’t got the time right now. One day, maybe.
