They knew
They both had always known
They hid it pretty well
Stayed Married – 25 years
Had 3 kids. They fit right in.
It seemed unnatural though, so they let their secrets out
Their ‘friends’ ?
Their ‘friends’ turned away,
Condemned them and
Slipped around the corner
Never looking back
Passing the news to one another, “Who knew?”
Last days spent alone
Speaking with only a few.
It cut like a knife
They had been excised
Their friends and families were left
Presumably healthy, with clean margins
But they, themselves, had been cast aside
As if, they never were.
It had to have hurt, but
They hid it pretty well
